Gratuitous Search Term Bait of the Day: Muppet Monster(s)

A relatively broad term today, simply: “muppets.”  It’s actually quite interesting, and encouraging, that someone ostensibly found our blog via the term “muppets.”  That must mean (we guess) that due to our vast library of Muppet-related posts we’re becoming one of the top results for that search.  Which is something to be proud of (right?  Please say yes).

Since the search term was so wide open we’re going to give you two clips today, that way everyone goes home happy.  First, we have this mash-up of the Muppets performing Kanye West’s “Monster,” which is all the rage today:

[sidebar:  Is the Muppet remix becoming something of a tired art?  How many times can we see some kind of Muppet mash-up until it feels derivative, devaluing both the Muppets and whatever work they are paired with?  Only time will tell.]

And, secondly, we’re happy to counter that “Monster” with the original Muppet Monsters, Little Muppet Monsters, the extremely short-lived series that was briefly paired with Jim Henson’s Muppet Babies in 1985.  Shelved after airing just three episodes, it remains when of the great Muppet oddities:

Well take the latter any day of the week.

Gratuitious Search Term Bait of the Day: Hot Stuff Coming Through

Nice and easy today with the term “swedish chef.”  But, instead of offering up a Muppet Show clip, which might have been the obvious choice, we’re going to use this as yet another opportunity to showcase one of our favorite Muppet outings, The Muppets at Walt Disney World.  This also allows us to enjoy another one of our most beloved Muppets, Beaker, who in this clip seeks out the Chef’s help in extricating himself from a rather tight situation.

And with that we’re off to make some chili!

Gratuitious Search Term Bait of the Day: Christmas in January

Very, very, excited about today’s entry.  Many thanks to whomever searched for today’s term, because it’s allowed us to post one of our favorite scenes from Community, and also one of our favorite scenes from anything ever.  Today, more than a week after Christmas, we were gifted the words “anthony michael hall community.”  The fact that it’s a holiday clip makes it all the more perfect.

Anthony Michael Hall with a mustache.  A brawl in fake snow.  Chevy throwing punches indiscriminately.  Florence + the Machine.  Can’t do much better than that.

But we’re going to try!  As a bonus, here’s a clip of Anthony Michael Hall from his ill-fated stint on the ill-fated tenth season of SNL (along with Robert Downey, Jr!  Also ill-fated!):

We’re going to Applebees!

Gratuitous Search Term Bait of New Year’s Eve: Man of the Year

We couldn’t be happier with this one: “snl stefon emma stone”

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Where do you think Stefon will be tonight?  Trash?  Gush?  Push?  Probably some place we haven’t heard of yet.

Let’s just hope there will be plenty of Furkels!

Gratuitous Search Bait of the Day: Who’s to Say?

Back to basics today: “snl emma stone”

There were several valid options for this one (in fact, the more we think about it, the more we liked that episode), but we’re going to go with the sketch that was far and away our favorite, even though we used a few seconds of it last week.  With pleasure, we welcome back Sex Ed Vincent:

Gratuitious Search Bait of the Day: Merry Christmas, Leo

Well, this one has been giving us fits for the last few days.  We utilized the full extent of our internet scouring capabilities (and, not to sound conceited, we’re pretty great at finding random stuff on the internet) and came up empty.  But, for some reason, people keep searching for “leonardo dicaprio christmas.”  Unable to track down a Growing Pains Christmas episode featuring Leo’s Luke Brower, we decided to go ahead and create our own Leonardo DiCaprio Christmas moment.  Keeping within the confines of Growing Pains, of course.

So, now, all of you who were looking for a Leonardo DiCaprio Christmas photo, you’ve found it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, LEO!  STAY IN SCHOOL!

Gratuitous Search Term Bait of the Day: The Old Bull

No change in terms from yesterday, as we guess people are snowed in from the Internet.  So, as we’ll no doubt do from time to time, we’re going to revisit “tom westman.”

While we were in Survivor withdrawal we came across a collection of all-time favorite  challenges as decided by Survivor Challenges Producer John Kirhoffer.  It was, of course, no surprise to us to discover that  top five included a challenge from Palau, the tenth season of the game, and the one absolutely dominated by Tom Westman.  In this Immunity Challenge from #pisode 4, “Sumo at Sea,” Westman proves what a force he is, taking on and defeating the younger Bobby Jon.  In his commentary Kirhoffer recognizes Tom’s legendary status, calling him a “true American hero.”  If you’ve been reading this blog and have yet to comprehend the greatness of Tom Westman, watch this video and you’ll understand.

It was also fascinating to learn that these kinds of challenges are always a best of three.  Which means that Tom actually had to vanquish Bobby Jon four times.  No sweat.

Gratuitous Search Term Bait of the Day: Dental Hygiene

This was our first tough one: “toothbrush the state video”

Unfortunately, we’ve been thwarted in our efforts in the past to upload this State sketch to the webs.  And even if we wanted to try it again, we don’t currently have our QuickTime copy of that sketch at our disposal (snowed in!).  So, instead, we’re going to do three things:

1. A still from the sketch! (REMEMBER, this is just a screenshot)

2. A link to our fantastically popular (by our standards) list of the Top Ten The State Sketches.

3. Another State sketch in lieu of “Toothbrush.”  To keep the festive mood going through New Years, we’ve decided on “Chip’s Party.”  Enjoy!

And this is not an excuse or a substitute, but just a few morsels to tide you over.  Somehow, Toothbrush will come back to us.

Gratuitous Search Term Bait of the Day: Double Karens

This might start getting a little more difficult tomorrow, but it’s another gimme tonight, one more of our search term stalwarts, “rashida jones.”  And, in the spirit of the season, we’re going to give you a Rashida Jones Tuesday 2 for 1:

…as Karen on Freaks and Geeks

…and as Karen on The Office (and season appropriate!).

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Merry Christmas, Rashida Jones!
