Gratuitous Search Term Bait of the Day: Hall Pass

Last week in our Community season recap (and Dan Harmon era post-mortem) we listed our top five episodes from the series’s three seasons.  We included on that list “Contemporary American Poultry” because, besides being brilliant, it was the first episode to truly bring it all together and show what that series could be, the way that it could play with genre but still be entirely Community.  But if we had to identify when we fell in love with the show, that would have to be “Comparative Religion,” just a few episodes earlier.  While not as strong of an episode, certainly not as ambitious, it was the first episode we were excited to watch again (and we did).  If “Poultry” was the promise of what was to come, “Religion” was the promise of the promise of what was to come.  Which is why we were so pleased to see “anthony michael hall on community” as one of today’s top search terms.

That could be one of the top search terms for as long as this blog exists and we would never complain.

Jump the Snark Turns Three!

Last Friday was Jumped the Snark’s THIRD(!) birthday, and we celebrated in style, with a night out at our most favorite restaurant.

When we stirred late Saturday morning (okay, fine, early Saturday afternoon), after clearing the cobwebs from our head, and wiping the Cool Ranch Doritos crumbs off our face, we tried to remember what happened the night before.  But after the hazy memories of chicken finger baskets and teriyaki flavor bowls and mudslides and oreo brownie sundaes and Killian’s Red slowly came into focus, we thought about the last three years of this blog, and how grateful we feel that we’ve been able to provide you, the reader at home, with our dumb posts and unnecessary commentary and our eerie fixation with TGIF.  But you’ve stood by us, and we thank you (and, yes, we’re talking to one person, which is essentially our readership).

And as we typically like to do on any landmark day here at Jumped the Snark, let’s take a moment and look back at the past three years, and reveal our #post of all-time, with 8,798 views:

It’s our home page!   Yay!
Alright, fine, that’s not very exciting.  In fact, it’s devoid of any excitement of all.  But the important thing is that 8,798 times, whether by accident or by design (and, let’s be honest, mostly by accident), world-wide web surfers landed on this site,  for two seconds or for two hours.  Did they stay on long enough to read any posts?  Will anyone read this post?  Probably not?  But if we can waste someone’s time for just a few seconds, and maybe provide some genuine frustration or disappointment, well, then it’s all been worth it.
Happy Birthday, Everyone.

Gratuitious Search Term Bait of the Day: Christmas in January

Very, very, excited about today’s entry.  Many thanks to whomever searched for today’s term, because it’s allowed us to post one of our favorite scenes from Community, and also one of our favorite scenes from anything ever.  Today, more than a week after Christmas, we were gifted the words “anthony michael hall community.”  The fact that it’s a holiday clip makes it all the more perfect.

Anthony Michael Hall with a mustache.  A brawl in fake snow.  Chevy throwing punches indiscriminately.  Florence + the Machine.  Can’t do much better than that.

But we’re going to try!  As a bonus, here’s a clip of Anthony Michael Hall from his ill-fated stint on the ill-fated tenth season of SNL (along with Robert Downey, Jr!  Also ill-fated!):

We’re going to Applebees!
