Our Redemption Island journey came to an end Sunday night, and while the home stretch of the season had been rather uneventful and predictable, if economical, we still had the chance for fireworks in the last two hours. Would Rob complete what was unquestionably one of – if not the – definitive Survivor performances, winning it all in his fourth attempt? Or, perhaps, would Matt fulfill his destiny and return from Redemption Island to become the Sole Survivor (if that was God’s will)? Or would Mike, the lone remaining member of Zapatera, the double threat of soldier and Jesus lover, reenter the game and lockup votes from his former teammates? Or would Grant, the remarkable physical specimen, go undefeated down the stretch, the jury rewarding his unparalleled athletic prowess with a million dollars. Or, finally, would Andrea prove victorious in the final Redemption Island duel and surprise us all by going all the way to the end? Well, there’s no way that could happen, right?
If Jesus is plotting against the Knicks, then they really have no shot.
*Actually, the headline is a reference to the character that Ray Allen played in He Got Game, the Spike Lee joint from THIRTEEN YEARS AGO. Timely reference, Metro! What’s next? A vague allusion to Celtic Pride?
A quick one tonight because we need to get to the Survivor: Redemption Island recap straight away.
Looks like some of you have gotten to our little site from using the term “last supper imagery.” We’re assuming this contingent was a mix of bible scholars and Lost fanatics. But our post tonight is going to address neither of those groups (and possibly offend the former). Tonight, this one’s for people who like to dip their balls into things.
We like to think that Jesus would find this sketch pretty funny. Because if you can’t laugh at one of your apostles betraying you and delivering you to crucifixion, then what can you laugh at?
Well the good vibes had to end at some point, and after a string of strong and then stronger episodes, that run ended rather abruptly with last week’s episode, “Christening.” We actually don’t have too much to say about it, which is to expected since it aired a week ago, but also because it was a rather forgettable episode.
And it didn’t have to be, that’s what was so frustrating about it.
